films for children with disabilities...
Southend, Halloween 2013: Ghouls invade the World’s Longest Pleasure Pier for the annual White Bus Zombie Walk
We are pleased to present, in our Cinema at The Old Waterworks, film shows for children with disabilities. These allow them the opportunity to experience a 'big screen' film show while allowing parents and carers to relax, safe in the knowledge that, if their children are a bit boisterous (or even want to leave halfway through!), it doesn't matter at all. The screenings are funded by the Council under their Short Breaks initiative and admission is free to children and parents/carers. Soft drinks are available for the children and tea/coffee for the adults (all at no cost) and parents/carers are welcome to bring their food and drink. There's ample parking: the entrance into the yard at The Old Waterworks is opposite the former Nelson pub on North Road, Southend SS0 7AB.
Our seasons run from September to March, excluding December, with films being shown on one Saturday each month. For 2021-2022 we have been granted additional funding, so we are able to continue to show 'U' or 'PG' certificated films for younger children in the morning (at 10.30am) and also films for older children (12+) in the afternoon (at 2.30pm). Classic cartoons (such as Bugs Bunny and Tom & Jerry) are shown for half an hour before the films come on.
The dates for the current (2021-22) season are: 25th September, 23rd October, 27th November 2021, 29th January, 26th February and 26th March.
We look forward to seeing you - and, more importantly, your children - at the Saturday Morning Pictures!
