films for children with disabilities...

Southend, Halloween 2013: Ghouls invade the World’s Longest Pleasure Pier for the annual White Bus Zombie Walk

In accordance with the current Government Coronovirus guidelines, it is with regret, we have to announce that all screenings at The Old Waterworks and The Palace Theatre have been cancelled until further notice.

Film Shows for Children with Disabilities

We are pleased to present, in our Cinema at The Old Waterworks, film shows for children with disabilities. These allow them the opportunity to experience a 'big screen' film show while allowing parents and carers to relax, safe in the knowledge that, if their children are a bit boisterous (or even want to leave halfway through!), it doesn't matter at all. The screenings are funded by the Council under their Short Breaks initiative and admission is free to children and parents/carers. Soft drinks are available for the children and tea/coffee for the adults (all at no cost) and parents/carers are welcome to bring their food and drink. There's ample parking: the entrance into the yard at The Old Waterworks is opposite the former Nelson pub on North Road, Southend SS0 7AB.

The films are shown on Saturdays at 10.30am. All are 'U' or 'PG' certificated. Doors open at 10am and, as an added attraction for those who arrive early, classic cartoons (such as Bugs Bunny or Tom & Jerry) are shown before the film comes on.

Our seasons run from September to March, with films being shown once a month (excluding December). ~The remaining screening for the 2019 to 2020 season will be on the following Saturday morning:  21st March (Christopher Robin).

We look forward to seeing you - and, more importantly, your children - at the Saturday Morning Pictures!
