Free Outdoor Cinema Screenings

Free Outdoor Cinema screenings at The Forum return for the fifth year! This year’s programme includes film titles that have been chosen in response to Southend Libraries annual summer reading challenge, ‘Wild World Heroes’.

Taking place every Saturday in August at 3.00pm, screenings are free and no booking is necessary. However, due to safety restrictions, early arrival is advised to find yourself a comfortable area to sit, to avoid disappointment. Don't forget to bring your own chairs or blanket!

Whilst restrictions have eased, we remain committed to keep members of the public and staff safe. For this reason, several covid safety measures will be adhered to during these events which we advise all visitors to be aware of.

1. Areas for seating will be clearly marked out to encourage social distancing.

2. We will monitor attendance numbers throughout to ensure that over-crowding does not occur.

3. Due to the need to reduce the overall capacity of the square, members of public may be turned away due to a limit on the number of areas for people to sit.

4. Toilet facilities are available at the Forum, where you will be encouraged to wear a mask and sanitise your hands before entering the building.

Please do not attend this event under any circumstance if you are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or have knowingly come into contact with someone who has tested positive. Home test-kits are available from The Forum and a number of test-sites can be found in Southend-on-Sea.

Managed by Focal Point Gallery, Big Screen Southend is a partnership project between Southend-on-Sea Borough Council, Official South Essex College and University of Essex.

Please note that event photography may take place during this screening for the purpose of promoting future events and offers in Southend. If you do not wish to be photographed, please make an event steward or member of staff aware.

Big Screen Southend is located outside of The Forum Southend-on-Sea in Elmer Square. For the exact location, please see here: https://goo.gl/maps/y46dfHrYRN92

Car parking is available under the adjacent South Essex College campus and the nearby University Square building. The Forum also has a limited number of disabled parking spaces for use by visitors which can be accessed from Farringdon Service Road off of Elmer Avenue. There is a bike rack located outside of The Forum.

If you have any access issues or general questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch at focalpointgallery@southend.gov.uk
